The 2023 World Series of Poker is in full swing in Las Vegas, Nevada, with players able to compete in several events from May 30 to July 18. Players can locate online events in Nevada and via New Jersey gaming sites as part of the regular schedule. The 2023 tournament offers a stacked schedule with something for everyone.

Online events are a big draw for WSOP fans as they allow players to participate while out of state. New Jersey poker players sign up quickly to try for WSOP gold or qualify for land-based events in Vegas via online satellites. It was recently announced that a special challenge is at play in the WSOP online, with players having a shot at qualifying for a $50,000 Freeroll featuring the top-rated poker pro Jamie Gold.

Go for Gold with the WSOP

The World Series of Poker offers New Jersey and Nevada players a chance to go for Gold in this new special challenge. Players can compete in specified online events and try to outlast Jamie Gold. If you do, then you earn a drawing entry.

The WSOP will host a drawing each week that gives players access to the $50,000 Freeroll. The freeroll will take place in Las Vegas, so players must be prepared to travel to participate. Players are only eligible for the drawing if they finish higher than Gold in an event listed on the NV/NJ WSOP network.

The WSOP allows players to enter the drawing twice. Players that do not outlast Gold can earn 10 Action Player Points (APPs), which are equal to one entry into the drawing. Players can earn points by competing in online cash games on Sundays from 3:30 pm PT to 11:30 pm PT.

Two entries are allowed per person per week. At the end of the week, a winner is drawn. Winners will receive $500 in travel money to cover the cost of visiting Las Vegas to compete in the event.

Gold Will Live Stream the Action

Jamie Gold is known for streaming his gameplay and will do so for the WSOP. He started streaming on June 11 during the $400 No Limit Hold’em event and will do so again on June 18 with the $500 No Limit Hold’em Turbo event. The next week, Gold will compete in the $400 No Limit Hold’em Ultra Deepstack and stream footage as well.

Players can watch along as Gold participates in the WSOP to get an idea of how he plays the game. Compete in events as well to try and outlast him or just enjoy the poker pro as he takes on amateurs and pros at the felt for a shot at WSOP Gold.

2024 Is Full of Big Events

This year is basically halfway over, and players have already enjoyed major online poker events. Options have been offered in several states, including New Jersey. In March, NJ poker players were able to participate in the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP), which featured $3 million in prize money.

The series began on March 17 and continued through April 3, offering several events during the three-week run. Players could compete in the Low, Medium, or High levels, which gives buy-in options for all bankrolls. Lower events are perfect for budgeted players, while high rollers also have larger buy-ins for the same events.

Prize pools varied based on the event buy-in, with options ranging from around $10,000 and up. PokerStars SCOOP is popular and a great option for players in New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

It is expected that the WSOP sites across the US will see major action via the Go for Gold campaign and all online events. It will be interesting to see who wins Gold and how many players actually compete in the online series.
