With diverse cases of Covid-19 still in sight, online casinos have been made to adapt new policies to ensure the safety of their customers. Most online operators that offer live events have taken a turn to postpone all open or live events which seemed to be a good move at the time. However, with vaccines rolling out, casinos are still not entirely convinced about opening the doors to live events – and one of such casinos is Unibet.
Unibet Open Events Closed Until 2021

Last year, Unibet broke the hearts of gamblers as it became the first operator to announce its plans to exempt live events due to the Covid-19 pandemic. While the news didn’t receive the warmest welcome, it was done for the best of players as governments moved to restrict gatherings and impose lockdowns which kept most people at home. Looking back, the decision came at the right time.
Though things are quite different with lockdowns lifted and vaccines being rolled out to boost up resistance against the virus, Unibet still kicks against returning back to open events. The operator has announced that there will be no Unibet Open Events in 2021 which means enthusiasts will have to wait till 2022 to see if there will be a change to the rules.
Unibet looks to focus on its online offering which seems to be growing every year. Though the numerous offers should please most loyalists, the absence of the Unibet Open events will be noticed.
Nataly Sopacuaperu, Unibet’s Head of Events, said: “Many live events are starting up again this year but, given the success of our online events in 2020, we plan to host all this year’s Unibet Open events online as well. There is still some uncertainty about how 2021 will pan out in terms of travel restrictions and, with that in mind, we want to ensure players don’t miss out on the chance to win a Unibet Open title!”
Unibet Online Series is Live
One of the most anticipated events of 2020, the Unibet Online Series (UOS) is back this March and it is even better with up to €1 million guaranteed, a special tournament in the works, and a generous leaderboard with plenty of rewards to go round.
The ninth Unibet Online Series will include Nano, Low, Mid, and High buy-in levels with limits ranging from €0.25 to €1,10. The series will take the center stage in Unibet’s Open Online Main Event with a €1,100 buy-in with €250,000 GTD.
Players competing in the series will be able to collect points for five different promotions with prizes reaching as high as €32,000.
Players get better winning chances in this series as it will award every player one point with each UOS tournament played. However, players in the Nano area won’t get this privilege. Additional points are granted to players patient and skilled enough to hit the top 17% in each tourney, taking into account entrants, buy-ins, and finishing positions.
The Nano leaderboard’s total is shared equally amongst players, however, they would have to meet a requirement to participate in the prize. Players must have played at least 31 of all 44 Nano events to claim a share.
Included is a Bubble Burster Showdown with a €3,225 prize pool slated for much later in the series at around March 24. Every player gets to take a hit at this top prize if they wish. To cap all the amazing offers that come with the series, Unibet entices players with Mystery Tournaments. These will pop-up randomly during the UOS.
Players get a free chance to try their luck at €2,000. At last, you get to win tourney tickets up to €100 in a special Quiz slated for March 16.
